Zhik Hiking X Boot - NEW 2026
ZhikThe Zhik Hiking X Boot is engineered for sailors who demand maximum feel, grip, and freedom of movement without sacrificing protection or durability. Built around a lightweight 3D knitted sock construction, it delivers a close, adaptive fit that moves naturally with the foot while minimising bulk and water retention.
At the core of the boot is Zhik’s advanced Liquid Polymer outsole, offering an incredibly thin profile that delivers true barefoot feel with structured support. This sole provides precise deck feedback while maintaining excellent grip and durability in wet, high-load sailing environments.
To enhance longevity, the Hiking X Boot features the patented ZhikGrip™ II hiking system that interlocks with hiking straps for power, stability, and ankle support., along with reinforced heel and toe areas to protect against abrasion and impact. The high-grip sole is designed for confident traction during aggressive hiking and fast deck movement.
A low-profile Velcro® ankle strap and updated side lacing system with under-strap hooks ensure a secure, locked-in fit, while integrated drainage ports allow water to escape quickly, keeping the boot light and responsive. Cold-cemented construction further improves durability for repeated high-performance use.
4X more durable sole with complete tear resistance.

ZhikGrip™ II Hiking System
ZhikGrip™ II is a highly durable rubber stud system on the top of the boot that interlocks with matching studs on the bottom of our ZhikGrip™ II foot straps, reducing sideways movement and connecting sailor to boat like never before. This allows the sailor to relax their legs without slipping out from under the strap and over time reduces fatigue, so they can hike harder for longer.
Important Sizing Update – Zhik 2026 Dinghy Boots
For the 2026 season, Zhik has introduced updated sizing across its dinghy boot range. The boots are now built on new lasts that follow standard US footwear sizing, which means your size may differ from previous Zhik boots.
What this means for you:
When ordering, select your normal US shoe size rather than the size you previously wore in Zhik boots. Early feedback confirms the new models fit true to standard US sizing.
Affected models include:
- Lightweight X Boot
- Hiking X Boot
- Performance Ankle Boot
- Performance High Cut Boot
Half Size Guidance
The 2026 range is produced in whole sizes only. If you normally wear a half size, you can create additional space by removing the insole, which increases the internal volume by approximately half a size.
Removable Insole Fit System
All 2026 Zhik dinghy boots feature a removable insole system, allowing you to fine-tune the fit to suit your sailing style and comfort preference.
You have three options:
1. Glue the insole in place (recommended)
For the most secure, performance-focused fit, the insole can be glued into the boot using a suitable boot adhesive. Allow adequate curing time before use.
2. Remove the insole
Removing the insole creates approximately half a size of extra room, ideal for sailors who wear thicker socks or prefer a little more space.
3. Upgrade the insole
Replace the standard insole with the Zhik Hiking X Carbon Insole for improved stiffness, better power transfer while hiking, and added support to help reduce fatigue and potential injury.
This adjustable system allows you to customise the fit depending on foot shape, sock thickness, and sailing conditions.
